6 Day Ha Giang Biking Tour – Discovering Majestic Mountains

Day 1: Hanoi – Thon Tha – Khuoi My – Luang Vai – Thon Tha Cycling Tour

We started our Vietnam mountain biking journey to the Ha Giang province in the northeast after a delicious breakfast, leaving the busy metropolis behind. Arriving at Phuong Do CBT village, we continued to hit the road and rode through picturesque rice paddies.

As we went, we came across many hill tribes, like the Hmong, Nung, Tay, and Coin Dzao, who have lived in this region for hundreds of years and have contributed to the region’s surreal landscape and distinctive cultural values.

Returning to the hotel for breakfast, we started our Vietnam biking tour from the homestay, cycling on a single track through a freshly constructed road that takes us to Thanh Ha Ecolodge. Two hours later, we arrived at Tan Quang Section and pulled off onto a paved road that led to Thong Nguyen and Tan Lap.

After breakfast in the hotel, we set off on our bikes from Hoang Su Phi, biking on single-track and dirt roads uphill on the Chieu Lau Thi slope.

The long pass between San Sa Ho and Chieu Lau Thi was what made today unquestionably the most challenging day of our mountain biking Vietnam trip. As we cycled on dirt and concrete roads, we passed an old tea farm and a hillside with a rice terrace.

It was September, so farmers were harvesting tea on their plants. We pulled over and took pictures while our tour guide told us about how people pluck tea leaves.
