Today, we woke up early and headed to a local market. Here, we had a chance to interact with many hill tribes who travel from all over the hill to trade their agricultural products in the early morning. The host told us to come back for breakfast,  but we’d already enjoyed noodles at the market. 

So we kicked off the day by pedaling towards Thanh Ha Ecolodge. Reaching Tan Quang after 2 hours, we were welcomed by a smooth tarmac road. The easy road ended soon, opening up a steep path to Heaven Gate 1. We finally conquered it and rested at Heaven Gate 2 for a picnic.

We also crossed streams and rode along hillsides while riding through dense woodland. Remarkably, the scenic terrace rice fields, maize fields, and cinnamon plantations captured our attention.

Following breakfast, we hit the road from Hoang Su Phi, riding on single tracks and dirt roads until we reach Section, where we pull off into single tracks and cycle 45 kilometers up the Chieu Lau Thi slope at the height of 2,406 meters. 

At the Chieu Lau Thi summit, we met Mi, A Su, and many other ethnic people such as Dao, Coin Dao, Mong, Nung, and Tay.

We were awakened by the rhyme of the wildlife, and had hot coffee and ginger tea before leaving for a day of hunting clouds gently passing in front of our homestay.

After breakfast, we said goodbye to the host, kicked off our pedals, and cycled for a short distance on a slope before riding the Ho Thau downhill. The highlight of today is biking through the most beautiful rice terrace and tea farm countryside on dirt roads and single-track trails.

Day 7: Na Tri – Ta Cu Ty – Ban Gia – Lung Phinh Bicycle Tour

After enjoying a filling breakfast with our gracious hosts, we set off on our new cycling adventure from Ecohomestay, pedaling through a tranquil village before biking upward into dense tropical forests.

The highlight of our Vietnam bike trip was cycling on dirt roads through numerous vibrant hill tribe settlements and beautiful scenery. Following lunch, we carried on to Ban Gia village, veered off the usual route to Lung Phin Village, and spent the night there.

This area has a lot of public activity and a particularly joyful atmosphere. After seeing the market, we hopped on our bikes and rode downhill from the hotel to Lao Cai City.

We continued riding to Trinh Tuong Commune, where we took the time to explore the day-to-day activities of hill tribal settlements, and discovered the distinctive architectural features of their homes.

We even had the chance to meet and converse with A Lin, a local farmer, and his children, who welcomed us with the biggest smile on their faces. Along the ride, we gazed upon spectacular rice terraces, charming hill tribe communities, and picture-perfect vistas.

We then crossed a suspension bridge to reach Lao Chai – Ta Van Village, where we interacted with La Mi and her local friends as we passed on the way. Recrossing the bridge to reach the paved road that leads to Su Phan, Thanh Kim, and Thanh Phu, and having lunch with A Suu and his family.
