Biking Ha Giang

Yet, due to the few travelers, it is a hidden gem in Vietnam worth your visit. A six-day Ha Giang bike tour is an amazing opportunity to discover the plateau’s undiscovered charm.

Let’s explore the detailed itinerary of this biking Ha Giang trip.

Biking Ha Giang – Detailed Itinerary

A six-day cycling Ha Giang trip is a fantastic way to discover the rugged Dong Van plateau’s secret appeal. This recognized UNESCO Global Geopark is 80 percent covered in rock and holds 400–600 million-year-old fossils.

Dong Van, which means “sharing culture,” is inhabited by Chinese Hoa, as well as Hmong, Kinh, and Tay People. The road here is challenging, but it offers cyclists an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Arrive In Hanoi

The northern Red River Delta is home to Vietnam’s stunning and serene capital. Hanoi exudes an impression of refined French colonial style. Although some refer to Hanoi as the “Paris of the East” because of its excellent coffee and perfect baguettes, the city’s history dates back to 1010 AD.

On arrival, you will be greeted and taken to the hotel for check-in. Before going out for a welcome supper at a local restaurant, take some time to unwind and learn the schedule.

Day 2: Hanoi to Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang Biking Trip

After a full breakfast in the hotel, our shuttle bus travels to the cycling site for two hours, leaving the busy city behind. We get off our bikes at the starting point and pedal along the gorgeous route to Son Duong town to have lunch. You can pass through various charming towns and breathtaking farmlands.

After lunch, we get on our bikes and ride over beautiful terrain and asphalt to Tuyen Quang, where we pull off onto National Road No. 2 to reach Vi Xuyen Town and take some photos. Check into a motel and have supper at a neighborhood eatery.

Day 3: Ha Giang To Quang Ba and Yen Minh Bicycle Tour

We cycle the first 25 kilometers through the scenery of terraced rice paddies on a rather easy route. The following 25 km is through minority-populated towns before ascending winding roads into the enormous limestone mountain range.

Here, its 800m vertical rock cliffs lead to the mountain road pass “Heaven gate 1.” The residents will greet us warmly as we drive through mountain settlements. Don’t be surprised to find that they are occasionally blanketed in clouds.

From the pass, we get breathtaking views of the valley below, including the well-known panorama of the Tam Son valley with the “Twin Hills” and the town of Quan Ba. On the peak, enjoy the beautiful panorama while having a great lunch.

After that, we get on our bikes and ride down the Gam River. The next destination is Yen Minh to see the hill tribes’ traditional houses in the area. You can meet Chinese communities there.

Day 4: Yen Minh – Lung Cu – Dong Van Cycle Tour

Cycling through the world-renowned Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark is a wonderful and spectacular experience.

Before this trip, you will have a filling breakfast and stop by the vibrant hill tribal market nearby for some souvenirs. Today you are rewarded with a stunning karst Plateau panorama.

We can visit and explore the Hmong King Palace before riding to Lung Cu Pole Flag Tower. We continue traveling on a side road to Dong Van Town after lunch.

Day 5: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Mau Due – Du Gia Cycling Tour

We pedal down the unassuming road from Dong Van alongside a sizable canyon. This route is twisting and sloping, with a view of the Nho Que River in the distance. We stare down into the valley from the Ma Phi Leng Pass, located at an elevation of around 1500 meters.

After tea break, we go back on our bikes and pedal through the heart of the Dong Van Karst Geopark. You will be rewarded with stunning landscapes and charming UNESCO-listed karstic formations.

After eating lunch, we climb a difficult hill before descending to Du Gia. Dinner and a night’s sleep are provided at Thu Thuy Eco homestay.

Day 6: Du Gia – Quan Ba – Ha Giang – Back Hanoi Biking Tour

We start our final day of the Vietnam bike tour from Ecovillage after a full breakfast of pancakes. We cycle back to Lung Phinh Section and then turn off the province route 181 to Quan Ba Town.

Along the way, it’s time to enjoy gorgeous landscapes and surreal sightseeing. Our bicycle tour in Ha Giang will end after we cross through the final pass, Quan Ba heaven gate. Eat lunch at a nearby restaurant and transfer back to Hanoi in a Van for six hours.

The biking Ha Giang tour must be one of the most unforgettable experiences for Vietnamese and foreigners. Through the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO-listed Geopark, biking in Ha Giang excursions in Far North Vietnam are an excellent opportunity to discover the breathtaking rocky mountain landscape and test yourself on notable zigzag routes.

Other memories in this bike tour include cycling over a mountainous route, past several peaceful hill tribe communities, and interacting with hill tribal markets.
