Day 1: Hanoi Transferring To Cao Bang

It’s the first day of our Vietnam bicycle tours. The tour guide led us to an eatery to try Pho and took a sip of bold coffee to kick-start the day.

After a filling breakfast, we departed for North East Vietnam, leaving the busy city behind. Along the way, we gazed out at the eternal, verdant rice fields, charming hill tribal settlements, palm trees, tea plantations, and daily local markets.

After a filling breakfast in the hotel, we pedaled toward Pac Po. We took in the breathtaking views and pristine nature as we went on a tarmac road through serene towns. Along the way, we met H’Mi, a kid coming home from school. She waved and said Hello to us with the brightest smile.

Arriving at Pac Bo – a historical relic, we learned more about the Post-Vietnamese Revolution and the life of Ho Chi Minh, who inspired the Vietnamese people to fight against the French and Japanese troops in 1945 to obtain independence. After lunch, we tested ourselves riding on the summit before continuing our cycling tours in Vietnam down to the Tra Linh Town ship.

Enjoyed stunning views and unique vistas as we went through the heart of the Global Geopark in Vietnam. When the crew got to Trung Khanh, we took some time to recoup and relax, then continued the journey till we left the single track and turned toward Quay Son River.

Rode along the border strip, over the bamboo bridge, and then biked through charming villages and verdant rice paddies to take in the breathtaking scenery. Following lunch, we went river biking and kayaking to the Ban Gioc Waterfall.

It is appealing for its picturesque depiction of the blue sky, enormous limestone mountains, and outstanding rice fields. Another successful day in Vietnam cycling tours awaits us today as we navigate some challenging passes and sweeping turns.

We pedaled along a river through rice fields, quiet villages, and other undulating terrains. Then, the journey in our Vietnam cycle tours became more difficult since we had to cross three mountain passes. The crew stopped for a lunch break, then continued cycling downhill on a newly paved route that led to Quang Uyen Town.

In this 40-kilometer trip through sealed and dirt roads, the crew visited a small basket-weaving village, observing the process of manufacturing a basket. Then, we kept riding on the same single track that took us to Phia Thap, Tu Do Commune, and Trung Vuong Commune. On the route, we visited a few vibrant hill tribe settlements. Our interaction with Mr. Tung, a local who told us stories about his village, was the highlight of today’s journey. We kept biking on the asphalt route that leads to Cao Bang city.
