Day 1: Saigon – Da Lat Hilltop City Bike Tour

We spent our first day of this cycling Vietnam tour in Da Lat. After having a full breakfast in our accommodation, we were picked up by our guide, and we moved to Dalat mountain. 

On our way, we learned a few biking techniques and safety measures. We enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant in the city center and then stayed overnight in Da Lat.

Day 2: Dalat City And Outskirts Cycling Trip

There were numerous alleys to discover on a bike in Da Lat. We rode along Xuan Huong Lake, veering off into the shadow of Langbiang Mountain. 

We could see many wonderful flower farms and vegetable gardens, through smaller villages and past picturesque churches and ornate cemeteries, up cobbled streets, and past old colonial buildings.

Day 3: Da Lat  – Lak Lake Bicycle Tour

On this day, we started riding at the top of a mountain. The road was very quiet, and we could enjoy cool breezes when riding down the mountain with spectacular views of Langbian in the distance. 

We stayed in a longhouse in the middle of a lakeside village for the night. There were many longhouses near the lakes, each with its own puppy dog and a collection of baby potbellied pigs trotting around. The longhouse was extremely cozy, with lovely blankets, mattresses, and mosquito netting available.

Day 4: Lak Lake – Dray Sap Falls – Ban Me Thuot Biking Tour

Once we finished breakfast, we visited Emperor Bao Dai’s Palace. This was a famous historical place in Da Lat, with beautiful gardens and signature French-style house’s structure. 

Then we took a boat to a remote village on Lak Lake’s far side. From this village, some light trekking was possible. We returned to Lak Lake’s longhouse for lunch and a rest before the 50-kilometer bike ride to Ban Me Thuot. We had dinner and spent the night at the Sai Gon Ban Me Hotel.

Day 5 : Ban Me Thuot – Yok Don Park – Buon Me Thuot Bike Trip

We started the day with a great breakfast in our accommodation. Then we rode to Yok Don National Park, looking at the deciduous forest and watching birds, elephants, and other special animals on the way to Don village. After lunch, we visited the hanging bridge and an elephant hunter’s house.

We also had a chance to visit the Museum of Ethnic Minority Cultures. The museum houses a large collection of agricultural, crafts, and hunting implements. Typical ritual clothing with brilliant colors and ornate designs of several ethnic communities is also on display.

We visited Buon Me Thuot’s central market to see what the locals did on a daily basis. During the remaining time of our mountain bike tours Vietnam, we could freely explore what we wanted.

Day 6:  Buon Me Thuot – Nha Trang – The Light Coral Resort Cycling Tour

From our hotel, we rode to the coast. What we enjoyed most during the bike trip was witnessing the difference between the tropical jungles of yesteryear and the deforested mountains as a direct result of the American war in Vietnam.

There was a famous 10km downhill with views of the sea. We then transferred a few kilometers to Dam Mon Island. We did explore the Dam fishing village as well and stayed at Light Coral Resort near there.

Day 7: The Light Coral Resort Bicycle Tour

We could freely do whatever we like on this day. We went surfing, went snorkeling, and strolled along the beach. That was a chilling and balmy day to put our feet up.

In the evening, we joined a group of youngsters, and together we threw a small BBQ party with a campfire on the beach. That reminded us of the salad days when we were young, energetic, and ambitious.

Day 8: The Light Coral Resort  – Nha Trang Biking Tour

We cycled 60 kilometers from Dai Lanh Beach to Nha Trang. The road was stunning as it ran along the coast for much of the way. Along the way, we not only fell in love with the winding road with stunning scenery but also enjoyed the fresh air full of the salty scent of the ocean.

We arrived at Nha Trang late in the afternoon, spent time exploring the city, and dined at a local restaurant. The seafood was amazingly fresh, we indeed recharged our energy after that.

Day 9: Nha Trang  –  Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre – Tra Vinh Cycle Tour

After exploring Nha Trang, we flew to Ho Chi Minh city in the morning. We met our guide at the airport. Then we escaped from the busy life of Saigon and moved to Ben Tre by bus. We spent two hours on a bus observing the breathtaking views of the Mekong Delta.

When we got to the riding spot, we had our bikes checked by the tour agency. Also, we learned about the traffic restrictions before starting to ride through lively lush green towns and the local irrigation system to grow coconut palms.

Day 10: Tra Vinh – Can Tho Biking Trip

We got up at dawn to visit the local market. After breakfast at the hotel, we began riding past picturesque villages, beautiful rice paddies, schools, and temples. We visited a typical Khmer home to learn more about this Khmer culture.

We continued to tour the lush green countryside and had additional opportunities to enjoy the unique cycling trails through the surrounds of Tra On and Binh Minh before a short cycle trip to Can Tho city this afternoon.

Day 11: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Rach Gia Bicycle Tour

We spent an hour in the market taking photos and admiring the variety of tropical fruits. The highlight of the tour was a boat ride to Cai Rang’s authentic floating market. We left the boat and continued our excursion by riding to Rach Gia through Vi Thanh city.

You rode on tiny trails by natural streams, where we encountered nice folks on country roads who appreciated having their pictures made. There were several sampan boat manufacturers along country roads, as well as fishing nets near rivers to admire.

Day 12: Rach Gia – High-Speed Boat to Phu Quoc Cycling Path

From Rach Gia, we went on a high-speed boat to visit Phu Quoc at around 8.00 am. It took us about 2 hours 30 minutes to the Bai Vong port on the Island of Phu Quoc. 

When we set foot in Phu Quoc, we didn’t rush to check in but cycled around in the neighborhood to get used to the pace of life there. The locals were super hostile.

Day 13: Phu Quoc Bicycle Tour

This was a free day, so we did some sightseeing in Phu Quoc. We plunged ourselves into the immaculate sea so that the water could strip off our tiredness, wafting into the ocean currents.

We also pedaled to a nearby market. The market immediately became crowded, with mobs of merchants and retailers haggling over pricing, creating the hectic atmosphere typical of any Vietnamese market.

Day 14: Phu Quoc Flight Back to Hochiminh city

Waking up after a night of tight sleep, we enjoyed our very last breakfast on this bicycle tour leisurely. We also took some time to admire the crystal-clear beach, the blue sky, and the scent of the ocean as if we wanted to capture all of them in our minds for good.

We returned to Ho Chi Minh City to catch an international aircraft back to your home or onwards. That marked the conclusion of our 14-day biking tour.
