Cycling Northern Vietnam: 12-Day Journey

Day 1: Start From Hanoi

You need to arrive at Noi Bai International Airport first. Then a guide from Snail Adventure Tours and a driver will meet you there and transport you to your hotel in the center of Hanoi.

Hanoi is the historic and vibrant capital of Vietnam. It has some of Asia’s most magnificent colonial buildings and a distinct old-world charm. Take a cyclo ride through the busy Old Quarter to see Hanoi’s antique and contemporary splendor.

After checking in, take some time to unwind on your own and go through your plan with our guide for the next few days. Following the tour, you will be treated to a special welcome meal at a typical Vietnamese restaurant.

Day 2: Hanoi – Mai Chau Biking Tour

Southwest of Luong Son, the entrance to the magnificent hilly region of northern Vietnam, is where we will arrive. We begin our Journey on a tarmac road with breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, sugarcane farms, and rice paddies.

After lunch, you can visit Thung Khe Pass to take in the breathtaking countryside sprinkled with Muong and Thai villages and sheltered by trees. With elementary school children or buffaloes, it will be quite striking.

Before descending to Mai Chau village, we take a little halt for a Kodak moment or refreshment. Take a shower, eat traditional Thai food for dinner, and take in a performance of Thai dance music.

Day 3: Mai Chau Back Road Cycling Trip

You can see how tranquil the villages are in the morning by cycling from the homestay via the mix of single-track paths that connect one community to another. It’s wonderful to take Mai Chau Valley’s exceptional natural beauty, peppered with Thai and Muong villages amongst rice terraces.

You learn more about local everyday life as we ride through the villages’ centers, stopping along the way to chat with some locals. We stop for lunch in Sam Khoe hamlet before continuing on the backroads to Mai Chau Town.

Day 4: Mai Chau – Pu Luong Nature Reserve Bicycle Tour

On the fourth day of this biking Northern Vietnam tour, a steep ascent on a combination of dirt routes and single-track trails will test the endurance of travelers. A breathtaking vista of the limestone mountains and magnificent terraced rice fields will be your reward.

We take a break for refreshments on the summit before descending to Pho Doan Market for lunch. After lunch, we take a leisurely bike to the village of Lo Nua along a combination of paved roads, buffalo trails, and bamboo forest shade.

Day 5: Nua Village – Pho Doan – Cam Luong – Cuc Phuong Cycling Tour

We are rewarded with breathtaking landscapes and encounters with welcoming locals. It’s the opportunity to shoot pictures at the vibrant tribal market in Pho Doan, the township of the Phu Luong Narcotic Reserve. We travel through sugarcane fields, corn fields, and villages of the Thai and Muong Tribes on the Nature Reserve’s skirt.

After lunchtime, we will arrive at the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The views are breathtaking as the rider travels through towns and past farmland growing cassava, sugarcane, and rice. Arriving in the late afternoon at Cuc Phuong National Park

Day 6: Cuc Phuong National Park – Thung Nham – Tram Chim Bike Tour

We will ride through the primitive jungle and along routes through the Park’s heart the next day of this cycling Northern Vietnam tour. After a little break, we will visit the center for the rescue of endangered primates.

After lunch, we go to Tram Chim Nature Reserve over magnificent limestone mountains that magnificently rise from lush rice farms and streams. When we arrive, we can either unwind or explore the area in search of various birds.

Day 7: Tram chim – Tam Coc – Bai Dinh Pagoda – Ninh Binh – Transfer – Hai Phong Biking Tour

It takes two to three hours from our location to reach Tam Coc, where you may explore three grottos with breathtaking views in the open air. Then, as we pass Trang An, then Bai Dinh Temple, and Kenh Ga Floating Villages, we are struck by their breathtaking natural beauty.

Before the vehicle transfers for three hours to Hai Phong, have lunch at Kenh Ga. When you get to Hai Phong, check into your hotel and unwind on your own.

Day 8: Hai Phong – Dinh Vu – Viet Hai Fishing village – Cat Ba Island Biking Tour

Continue our mountain bike tour Vietnam; the Journey to Dinh Vu Seaport takes 30 minutes. When we get to the cycling area, we start cycling to the Dinh Vu ferry station, where we board a public ferry to Cat Hai Village. We travel by bicycle through the traditional fishing towns of Cat Hai and Cai Vieng, which also produce a fish sauce.

After arriving on Cat Ba Island, we will continue cycling on the Hilling route. We may have to overcome challenges in exchange for a breathtaking natural landscape. After stopping for lunch along the way, it’s time to ride to Cat Ba Town.

Day 9: Cat Ba Island trek – Boat trip exploring Lan Ha Bay – Kayaking

Cat Ba Island is one of the most lovely spots in Vietnam because of the ancient forest and the quiet town, and it’s the next destination for our Vietnam mountain bike tours. We cycle about Cat Ba for a half day, stopping at the fishing harbor, the center market, and the National Park.

Visit Lan Ha Bay by boat and spend two hours kayaking to discover this World Natural Heritage site. Dinner and a night’s stay are to be had at Nam Cat Resort.

Day 10: Lan Ha Bay Full Day Kayaking

After breakfast, we will kayak to Me Cung cave (The Labyrinth Cave). We may take in the view of a lake enclosed by mountains.

If we want to reach the water lines in the dark cave, it will require strong arms and effort. Arriving at the cave depends on the water flow and level, as the 300 hundred meters long, dark tunnel leading to a fairy lake in the mountain limit depends on both.

Return the boat for lunch, then paddle about the area and visit other beaches for swimming before boating to Ba Trai Dao beaches.

Day 11: Lan Ha Bay – Kayaking & Cycling

Today, we will spend the day paddling kayaks to explore Lan Ha Bay, created by the Cat Ba archipelago islands. We discover the pearl farm and purchase pearl-based souvenirs.

Then we paddle toward Nam Cat beach and the bay’s resetting. The best Side of the mountains that grow from the water is closer than the mountain distance in Ha Long Bay, which is the highlight of the Journey. Our boat returns us to the way where we may board the bus to Cat Ba Town. Dinner is served; stay in Cat Ba Town.

Day 12: Cat Ba National Park – Halong – Hanoi Cycling Tour

The final day will be spent biking through Cat Ba National Park and kayaking via Lan Ha Bay. On the trip back to Hanoi, you have time to investigate the day-to-day operations of the neighborhood fisherman.

From the hotel, we begin riding along the coast and uphill roads that lead to the fishing villages of Viet Hai and Cai Vieng. Before arriving in Hai Phong city, we ride two public ferries.

Arriving in Hanoi in the late afternoon, check-in and unwind on your own. Dinner is planned for your group as a farewell. Hold on to Hanoi. Our cycling Vietnam tour is complete.
