This part includes the details of our North Vietnam mountain bike tours in 15 days.

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

Welcome to Vietnam!

After arriving at Noi Bai International Airport, our car and tour guide will take you to the hotel to check in, rest, and take a brief itinerary with our guide for the coming days. 

You can enjoy a cyclo ride through the bustling streets of the Old Quarter to discover Hanoi’s ancient and modern beauty. 

After the tour, you will be warmly welcomed with a special welcome dinner in a typical Vietnamese cuisine restaurant and stay a night here.

Day 2: Hanoi – Sapa Cycle Tours

Today, we will begin our Vietnam bike tours. 

On day 2, we will depart to Lao Cai via the new highway, where you will have a chance to admire the scenic beauty of Viet Bac through the window. 

Lunch upon enrollment. After lunch, the delegation continued to the border city of Lao Cai. 

Take some time to go around and take pictures of the town and the landing gate before going to Sapa Hill station. 

Arriving in Sapa, complete the check-in procedures, have dinner at a local restaurant, and stay overnight at the Sapa Charm hotel.

Day 3: Sapa – Y Ty Biking Trip

We are going to hit Yty on a single runway and trail on day 3. Starting our bike ride from the hotel, we cycled high past the catholic church and then turned onto the village road leading to the flower and vegetable farms. 

Here, you can enjoy the fascinating scenery and the Fansipan mountain range on the left side. At the junction, regroup and go on the runway leading to O Quy Ho. 

We continue to conquer the long way to climb Ban Khoang. Take your time to visit the Sunday market in Muong Hum.

After that, we will challenge another cloudy pass to reach Y Ty.

Day 4 – 5: Y Ty – Lao Cai – Bac Ha Cycling Trip

After breakfast, we will cycle through town and down to Ngai Thau – A Lu Ngai Tro – A Mu Sung, Lung Po, and go along the border between Vietnam and China to admire the breathtaking landscape with roadside terraces.

The cycling tour also visits Lung Po, where the Red River flows into Vietnamese territory. 

Next, our team pedals along the Red River to Trinh Tuong commune to see the traditional house architecture of the Ha Nhi Doi ethnic group. After lunch, we continue down the river to Bat Xat and Lao Cai city and stay overnight there.

After breakfast, let’s kick start the day by pedaling to Coc Ly on the beautifully paved road. Arrive in Coc Ly at 10 am. We will take time to participate in the Local Market, which is open every Tuesday. 

Then, we will take the single road to Bao Nhai bridge and turn into Bac Ha town. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in yourself and rest. Dinner and overnight at Sao Mai hotel.

Day 6 – 7: Bac Ha – Coc Pai – Hoang Su Phi – Thong Nguyen – Ha Giang Bicycle Trips

Leaving early, we will cycle to Lung Phinh, then turn along the trail and road to Sin Man.

Today, we stop for a picnic lunch on the way, then go up the hill down to Coc Phai town, then conquer “Heaven Pass Gate 2” before descending the mountain in Hoang Su Phi town. 

On day 7 of this Vietnam cycling tour, we will head to Ha Giang – located in the northernmost part of Vietnam.

Ha Giang is the northernmost province with a 270 km long border with China’s Yunnan province and borders Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, and Cao Bang provinces.

Day 8: Ha Giang – Quang Ba – Yen Minh Bicycle Tours

We will leave town this morning and cycle the first 25 kilometers through a panorama of terraced rice fields on a pretty easy road.

Passing through villages where ethnic minorities are residing, we conquer another 25km on winding roads to reach the vast limestone mountains with perpendicular stone walls. Climb 800m towards the “Gate of Heaven 1” pass to admire the majestic beauty here. 

You can see unique views from the top of the pass, including the well-known view of Tam Son valley with Twin Hills, exploring Quan Ba ​​town, having lunch on the top, and enjoying the scenery here.

After lunch, we will start cycling down the river and walk along the Gam River until we meet another pass.

It is a challenging terrain up and down with an elevation of 1,025m before we descended the final 15km downhill into Yet Minh.

Day 9: Yen Minh – Lung Cu – Dong Van Bicycle Trip

Today is a fantastic day when we will have a chance to take a Vietnam biking tour to Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark.

After a meal and a visit to the colorful hill tribe market at the nearby hotel, we will start cycling to Dong Van. On our way, we will take time to explore the Hmong King’s Palace and continue cycling to Lung Cu Pole Flagpole. 

Have lunch, and we will go on our way back to Dong Van Town. Upon arrival, check in, and you will have free time to relax on your own.

Yen Minh – Lung Cu - Dong Van Bicycle Trip

Day 10 – 11: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Bao Lac – Cao Bang Cycling Trip

We will head to the market in the center of Meo Vac town, then follow a distant mountain route to Niem Son on the way downhill, along the Gam River. 

After a cycle of uphill 5km, we go downhill 30km, following a relatively flat path for the next 10km. 

The landscape, notably limestone formations, is a Mother Nature’s masterpiece of peaks, towers, troughs, and caves. We must climb relatively gently before we descend the final 30 km along flat and even terrain. 

After lunch, we walk along the banks of the Gam River, conquering a relatively complex pass before descending to Bao Lac town, where you will spend a night.

The 11th day is our Vietnam biking tour‘s most challenging cycling day. We will spend half a day for 38km climbing to the top of Pia Hoac and then down the hill on the paved road to reach Cao Bang city. 

As we ride, we will capture the majestic limestone mountains and explore the wilds of the frontier to get to Cao Bang city.

Day 12: Cao Bang – Tra Linh Biking Tours

Today, we set off to Pac Po. Enjoy the unspoiled nature and beautiful scenery on your way through peaceful villages.

Pac Po is a sacred destination for Vietnamese people – the cradle of the Vietnamese Revolution of 1930-1945, where President Ho Chi Minh first set foot in Vietnam after 30 years of living and working abroad. 

Join a picnic lunch on the summit. Then we will test our abilities before disembarking in Tra Linh Town.

Day 13: Tra Linh – Ban Gioc Cycle Tours

We will join the morning market with the hill tribes to understand the locals’ lives and observe the agricultural products. 

To begin the trip, we will cycle on a dirt road 35 km long, crossing rice fields, ancient villages, rivers, and streams to Trung Khanh town and turn to the Quay Son River. 

Have lunch at Eco Homestay, then cycle along the river to Ban Gioc waterfall or kayak along the Quay Son river. Have dinner and overnight at Ban Gioc Resort.

Day 14 – 15: Ban Gioc – Quang Uyen – Hanoi Biking Tours

Wake up early in the morning to explore the enchanting nature, and trek down to discover the beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall.

After breakfast, we will cycle from the hotel to Quang Uyen Town along the new border road to observe the picturesque limestone mountains, passing many hills of the Tay and Nung tribes. Have a good night’s sleep there.

On day 15, we will go on a cycle tour from the hotel to Lang Son on the historic 4D highway through That Khe and Dong Khe town. 

Enjoy your lunch, and our shuttle will then take us back to Hanoi for a farewell dinner.
