Sapa Cycling To Bac Ha: Leaving The Bustle City Behind
Day 1: Ha Noi – Sapa
From Ho Chi Minh City, we took a morning flight to Hanoi. A young and enthusiastic tour guide came to pick us up in the central district. After the bike tours in Vietnam briefing, we boarded a shuttle bus and headed to Lao Cai.
Following the new highway, we encountered the picturesque Northern mountains. The vehicle stopped in Lao Cai after 4 hours of travel. A stroll revealed the rustic vibe even though this border city attracts many foreign merchants and tourists.
Then we bought tickets at Sapa Hill Station and transferred to our first destination of these bike Vietnam tours.
Day 2: Sapa By Bike
On this Vietnam bike tour, we decided not to spend much time in the bustling town. Instead, we cycled off the beaten tracks and trails down the Muong Hoa valley. We crossed the green hills dotted by remote villages and magnificent rice terraces.
We stopped at Lao Chai and Ta Van. Ethnic minorities who are not fluent in the national language tried to tell us about some legends associated with their area.
The suspension bridges guided us to other places such as Thanh Kim, Thanh Phu, and Thang Temple. When the feet tended to hurt, we spent the night with locals in Nam Cang.
Day 3: Nam Cang – Thanh Phu – Ban Ho – Lao Cai Cycling Route
The locals started a new day early to prepare breakfast as the aroma of the traditional banana cake woke us up. We enjoyed a tasty meal in a peaceful village.
Say goodbye to our sincere friends; we rode through rice terraces, streams, and other environs. The post-lunch route became challenging with craggy passes, potholes, and undulating roads.
On the bright side, we were rewarded with expansive views of breathtaking limestone mountains and large hills in the beautiful setting sun.
Day 4: Lao Cai – Can Cau – Bac Ha Biking Tour
We set the alarm at 6 o’clock to attend the Can Cau market. Tribes in colorful clothes gathered here to exchange goods. They brought a lot of things, but mainly the necessities for daily life. The bustling of this unique cultural activity energized our mornings.
After the market ended, we returned to the springboard and moved to a nearby Hmong village. An interesting find was the gatehouses adorned with clusters of vibrant flowers.
All these magnificent yet peaceful scenes ate up our camera film quickly. Next time, we will bring more not to miss any masterpiece of Mother nature.
Day 5: Bac Ha – Lao Cai Cycling Tour & Night Train To Ha Noi
We visited a larger market in Bac Ha and shopped for souvenirs. Handmade headscarves captured our eyes when we saw ethnic girls wearing them yesterday.
Our bicycle continued to roll on the trails to Trung Do. A sudden rain earlier watered the dense forest and the dirt roads. We followed the Chay river and called it a day at Pho Lu. The tour guide brought our group back to Hanoi by train at night. It was time to kiss goodbye to one of the greatest Vietnam cycling tours.
We got off at the station at 5 am. After moving back to the center, we walked around Guom Lake and treated ourselves to banh mi and egg coffee cups. Our Vietnam bike trip is over, but one thing is for sure: we will be back soon.
Sapa cycling To Bac Ha has whipped up our passion for Vietnam bike tours. We had a lot of skepticism at first, but things got better. We believe everyone should sign up for this adventure activity at least once in their life. Get out of the sofa and go cycling to great landscapes now!
